George Nicholson was an English botanist and horticulturist, amongst 60 awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1897 for their contributions to horticulture. 

4 edition set of Victorian Gardening and Horticulture books in a dark green cloth with bright coloured  gold with black horticultural symbols. Fine illustrations and drawings of flowers within the text with each book containing a coloured floral plate.  A beautiful set in a fair used condition for its age.
