We love these old vintage salad drying wire-work baskets. They ooze character and French vintage charm. This one has a particularly nice shape and has little wire feet. We believe this dates back to the 1920's.
When we bought this a Frenchman approached us and went into great detail about how it was used for drying salad. This made us chuckle as we're sure he was thinking those mad English keep using these wire-work baskets for eggs (which is true). Yes, originally these were designed as salad driers but they do make wonderful egg baskets too.
A very nice vintage piece. Signs of ware as you would expect for a basket almost 100 years old. Still exceedingly useable.
