Wonderful French vintage mezzaluna or hachoir as it it otherwise known.  These are so useful in the kitchen to chop herbs or cheese. Just like this chopper a mezzaluna has a single curved steel blade with wooden handles at either end.  
 
This is a nice aesthetically pleasing rustic hachoir.  It shows beautiful characteristics of years of use.
