This is a vert pretty French enamelware allumettes tin for holding matches.  It is in a nice vintage condition with a few minor rust patches and vintage marks.  There is some crazing to the enamel as you would expect of a vintage allumetter match box tin such as this one.
 
Often these tins lose their lids but this one has retained it and the lid is still firmly in place with nice strong hinges.  The lid also has a match stricker unlike many other allumette boxes.
 
Designed to wall mount this tin has a handy hanging hole at the top.  Very useful hanging near a fire, log burner or woodfired Aga.
 
The tin is a white enamel with a a dark navy blue rim and 'Allumettes' stencilled in a paler navy blue.
