We think it is fair to say that at one time every kitchen in rural France would  have owned one of these. Dairy bowls were used to gather milk, make cheese and so much more. 
 
This pale coloured stoneware dairy bowl is un-glazed on the outside with glazing on the dark brown rim and internally.  It is in a beautiful clean condition  with a few minor age related marks.  This is a wonderful bowl in a  condition.  Exceedingly usable and practical.
