The Sussex trug is synonomous with English country gardens to carry fresh flowers from the garden or freshly picked vegetables from an allotment bat.
A traditional Sussex Trug is made of chestnut and cricket bat willow with copper nails. They bacame popular after Thomas Smith displayed his trug at the Great Exhibition of 1951. When Queen Victorian bought a couple for various member of the Royal Family they became and have remained a firm favourite in English gardens.
